Using another computer as Sampler

Does anyone have any experience using a computer as a dedicated sampler? I am looking for a step by step process for this. I have a MacBook Pro that I use with ProTools and am getting around 2 Terabytes of samples soon. I want to buy a Mac Mini to use as the sampler and just wanted to know about setting it up. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I did that in the past, what software are you thinking of using as sampler in the mac mini? I would recommend you to get a dedicated audio interface with midi for your mini, and then its a matter of treating your mini as a hardware sampler, configuring the i/o and midi properly is very easy.
I used Ableton Live as a sampler on a mini and worked great in sync with logic, it gave me so much flexibility than any other real hardware sampler.
